A unique tiny world of meaningful book art…
Hello, I am Betty. Welcome to my little corner of the internet. However, if you are here for some highbrow talk about art, then quietly close this tab and walk away. Instead, if you have arrived here to journey into a miniature world of magical realism, then do come in. Maybe bring a cup of tea or, if the hour allows, an Aperol spritz…
My work is made from pieces of damaged, discarded books. Mistreated books, defaced books, water-damaged books, books with pages missing, or books that had something to say but have reached the end of their life in that form—all are welcome here. Therefore, I take them in, listen to their tales of woe, and give them a new raison d’être.

Just so you know, we are talking about tiny work. Specifically, these are houses that have an approximate footprint of only one square centimetre. They stand in their own little landscapes telling their tales. While some are argumentative, others are sad, jubilant, or simply lost. Nevertheless, they all have a story to tell, and they are mistake-free never shy of talking back. The one thing they all have in common is that they are all living on the edge in some way, as I think most of us do…
So, in a nutshell: I, Betty Pepper, am an artist and maker creating miniature paper sculptures and art from damaged, discarded books. Specifically, I turn them into tiny artworks with stories. In addition to creating these pieces, I sell my work and accept commissions. Furthermore, I share stories and blog content related to my creative practice. Ultimately, my pieces are unique, eco-friendly, whimsical, and deeply rooted in storytelling.
If you are looking for unique, eco-friendly paper sculptures—which make especially good paper wedding anniversary gifts for art and book-loving couples—or if you wish to commission such a thing, that’s what I do. So, come and see what’s available in the Shop… xxx
